CHANAN REIFEN
Marriage and Family Therapist- Limited Permit

Understanding ourselves is essential for cultivating self-compassion and acceptance, foundations for living a more vibrant and fulfilling life. Yet the process of self-discovery, whether undertaken individually or within the context of a relationship, can feel overwhelming and disorienting. In my therapeutic practice, I strive to create a space that supports curiosity, emotional honesty, and meaningful growth.

I work as a relationship therapist with individuals and couples who feel stuck in recurring relational patterns, particularly around intimacy, communication, and desire. Many of the couples I work with struggle with discrepancies in sexual desire, emotional distance, or cycles where one partner feels overworked or overwhelmed while the other becomes withdrawn or shut down. Through couples and sex therapy, I help partners slow these patterns down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and develop new ways of relating that support emotional and sexual connection rather than frustration or blame.

As someone who has lived between cultures for most of my life, I am deeply attuned to the cultural, familial, and unconscious forces that shape how we relate to ourselves and others. Originally from Tel Aviv, I have lived and worked in Toronto, London, and Milan, and I am fluent in English, Hebrew, and Italian. I earned my graduate degree at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University and am pursuing advanced training in sex therapy at the Ackerman Institute and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP) in New York City. Alongside my clinical training, I bring over a decade of experience in the corporate world, along with prior work as a military medic — backgrounds that inform my understanding of stress, performance, burnout, and resilience. I work with individuals and couples navigating life transitions, cross-cultural relationships, and the pressure to function while feeling disconnected inside, helping them build relationships that feel more intentional, grounded, and alive.
