COURTNEY CLIFFORD
Marriage and Family Therapist- Limited Permit

I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and high achievers who are navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, and self-esteem struggles. Many of my clients come in feeling stuck in old patterns or disconnected from themselves and their relationships. My style is collaborative and direct: I hold space with compassion while also asking the kinds of questions that deepen awareness and open the door to meaningful change. Therapy with me is a place to come home to yourself, cultivate self-trust, and build more authentic connections.

My own path has been varied, and it deeply shapes the way I sit with clients. I began in the creative arts, where I was immersed in expression and the power of story to connect us. Later, I worked in leadership training and development in the corporate automotive industry, where I came to understand both the ambition that drives people and the challenge of sustaining balance and meaning in demanding environments. A lifelong animal lover and equestrian, I’ve taught therapeutic riding and equine-assisted therapy, learning from the grounding presence of horses and the healing that comes through trust and attunement. These experiences taught me that transformation is always relational—whether with ourselves, our work, our partners, or the world around us.

I hold a Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy and clinical training as a psychotherapist from Mercy University. My background includes a Master Certification in Facilitation and Coaching from the Association for Talent and Development, a professional coaching diploma from New York University, and certification as a Level 2 Equine-Assisted Psychotherapist through the Natural Lifemanship Institute, specializing in the neurobiology of trauma and relationships.

My work is depth-oriented and psychodynamic, informed by attachment theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I also integrate somatic practices—yoga, meditation, breathwork, and body awareness—to support nervous system regulation, embodiment, and mind-body connection. I bring a grounded, integrative approach so that therapy becomes a place to come home to yourself, strengthen self-trust, and create more authentic connections in every area of life.
