TYLER FINLEY
Mental Health Counselor- Limited Permit

I'm curious about your stuckness, your lostness, and your unspoken dreams holding their breath beneath the surface. We live in a world where we are often stretched to our capacities and uncertain how to return to–or discover–our deepest wants and needs. Pressure to meet the expectations of family, culture, work, and love can coalesce into a swarm of demands that consume opportunities for self-reflection, authentic relationships, and meaning-making. Despite this, I believe we can develop the compassion, intuition, and insight to form genuine connections and lead meaningful lives.

You'll find our work together is multimodal, drawing from (1) ecotherapy, (2) psychodynamic, (3) narrative, (4) mindfulness-based therapies, and (5) parts work. This means we may (1) meet in a local park, (2) explore your dreams, (3) question unhelpful labels, (4) use breathwork, or (5) address your conflicting needs. Regardless of the unique form our collaboration takes, I integrate a trauma-informed lens: safety, consent, and empowerment are foundational to healing.

I am a queer practitioner–queer in both my personhood and my approach. If you are queer, different, or have your sights set on untrodden paths through life, I hope you can find a therapeutic home here. I also love working with the following kinds of individuals: nature lovers; city people; healers; poets and artists; overthinkers; self-identified "awkward," "boring," or "funny" people; daydreamers; questioners (of rules, meaning, themselves, their therapists); and people seeking to finally trust themselves.

I received a Master of Arts in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from NYU and a Bachelor of Arts in Storytelling in Writing & Interactive Media from NYU. I earned a Level 1 Ecotherapy Certificate from The Earthbody Institute, indicating my proficiency in offering nature-based therapy both indoors and outdoors.
